DREAM Center Ambassador

Description: The DREAM Center Ambassadors will staff the Center, assist with developing and facilitating programming tailored towards enhancing the experience of our undocumented student community and those students from mixed status families, supporting professionals rotating through the center to conduct supportive services for undocumented students, and serve as advocates, educators, and peer mentors to our DREAMers. Student Ambassadors will also facilitate workshops and participate in shared governance committees, attend state conferences, and regional meetings.

Qualifications: Maintain a cumulative 2.5 gpa or higher, successfully completed 12 units at WCC, willingness to serve as a student ambassadors for two full semesters, (FA & SP), maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Purpose: The DREAM Center Ambassadors are to serve as "experts" and knowledgeable mentors to support students that are utilizing the center. They are equity agents that increase access to supports to retain students in college and facilitate their engagement with categorical programs that are entitled to participate which will lead to higher rates of persistence, completion, and graduation rates.

Responsibility: FWS student will gain hands on experience in student services while ensuring the Dream Center is available to all students. FWS will also participate as event co-hosts. Students will also help the Dream center grow by communicating with larger student body, as well as community members on events as needed.
