Hello my curious students! Here's what you can usually expect from my courses:
Each course is different though; please read the syllabus to understand exactly what's expected of you when you enroll!
As for me personally? I grew up in Socal, going to college at UCSB and then UCR for my PhD, before moving to Yuba City for work. In my off time I'm usually playing video games or writing fantasy novels. At least, you know, when I'm not wasting time on the internet. The best game is Skyrim. I'm also a fan of Pokemon; you can probably catch the keychains hanging from my bag!
Also, I am a total nerd who does math problems in their free time. So I'll leave you with this, for anyone still reading. If you inscribe a square within a circle, what fraction of the circle's area does the square take up?

This count includes only views we can identify as human. Search engines and AI crawlers made up a large share of the previous figure — one crawler alone viewed every profile on this site twice in two days.
Counting under the new method began in August 2026, so this number reflects recent views rather than a running total. It will grow as the term progresses.
