Brian Gillespie

Hello, I'm Brian Gillespie (he/him/his). I have been a college biology instructor since my graduate school days starting in 1996. I am currently the full-time faculty member overseeing all of the Biology classes for those majoring in the subject (BIOL 1 & 7). I also teach online courses in Environmental Biology (ECOL 10). Prior to coming to WCC I taught as a part-time instructor for colleges in the Los Rios and Sierra Community College Districts, with experience in a variety of classes from human anatomy & physiology to marine biology. My research background is in marine ecology with an emphasis on the behavioral ecology of molluscs. I am married and have two children. My interests outside of teaching include a love of science fiction & fantasy, some computer gaming, and cosplay of characters from those genres. As you can tell from my profile picture, I am extremely proud of my Scottish heritage (clan MacPherson), and I even hold title as a Laird of Chaol Ghlenn, an estate in the Scottish Highlands.
